Why do I assume to do What a Manufacturer says.Because they should know how to use their product.

.But a even thick coat is required.Coming out in globs or spitting is not acceptable as working !!!

    And it also shouldn't be thinned.Aquaplas is a functional material,not a paint.

(OG) I am not going to guarantee it will do a quality job, only that I can get it to work.

OK if you won't guarantee a quality job then, "What Is The Point"

I still don't understand saying it's not the one when no claim was made it was.

Again, PDF's are written by people with minimal, or often zero use of the product from info passed on to them.

As far as a thick coat required, wrong. If you have done much painting you know multiple coats built up is often superior to one thick coat.

As far as not thinning, wrong, says you can in the PDF. One the water has evaporated there is no difference in damping ability. It depends on material thickness, thinning has zero effect.

All I suggested was something that MIGHT be worth looking at. If you don't appreciate tips other than what the manufacturer recommends, you may want to just ignore my posts.

I've built a number of racing engines, i guarantee you GM and Ford didn't put any of the ways I used the stuff in PDF's. People experimenting and not following the rules is often how progress is made.

It's also responsible for some abysmal failures. Nearly as many as following manufacturers instructions.

What you view as hard and fast rules I view as a reference sheet. Just a difference in personalities.

To me manufacturer suggestions are never anything more than a starting point.

Doesn't mean we can't get along. But I will never go along with you are supposed to follow instructions exactly.

I don't stick to recipes when I cook, either. I read the recipe, I know enough about spices to have an idea what it's going to taste like. So I change it to what I want.

I don't know why you are stuck on this one Pdf. I didn't say this Pdf was gospel. All that pdf. was about was airless spraying. All the literature I have read on applying Aquaplas states that it should be applied with a 30:1 airless sprayer that's it.What I did say was that I like to follow Manuf. Recommendations which are just that recommendations/suggestions on how to use their product, but we all have our own ways of using things do we not. When I follow their recommendation all that means to me is that I will use a airless sprayer 30:1 with a reverse-a-clean spray gun 1/4" nozzle tip.

Yes I have done lots of painting more gallons than I care to remember but aquaplas is NOT paint therefore multilpe coats or thinner are not required if applied correctly(thickness).

What is the purpose of thinning when thinning isn't required or recommended.

If you check my post it says that I like to follow manufacturers recommendations in general and that could be with anything. When you deviate from that in General you will tend to void any warranty applied. The manufacturers are not here to hold our hands so we all do things are own way to some extent.

As far as comparing Racing engines and coatings is apple & oranges don't you think.

As for looking for tips OG absolutely that is why I'm here because audio is not my field (And I'm a Huge Altec Lansing Fan By the Way) so I'm trying to learn as much as I can.I used a gun like the one you had posted the one for $19.99 that had a 1 1/2 gallon hopper on it, it was similar to the one I used,I used it to apply popcorn to a ceiling. All I said was that is not the one I was referring to the link you had posted. And you took offense(None -Intended).As I used a spray gun like that.I was just trying to be Accurate. Now this is a subject that I feel I can contribute to.With Audio I get lost rather quickly.Damn I thought I was going to win a Crispy C-Note (Just Kidding)

I guess my point was with something that costs $180-$210 a pail I'm not looking to experiment with or make mistakes with.So I would follow their recommendation and look for a 30:1 airless sprayer with a 1/4" nozzle.

When you say "Doesn't Mean We Can't Get Along" Absolutely OG !!!! We just have a difference of opinion that's all nothing more.Nothing to get worked up about. You probably forgot more about audio then I will ever know and I would hope you will continue to share your knowledge with me(If Not Your Call).Audio wasn't my field (But Love Music) I know a little about General Contracting though, but that is another story.

OG I wish you nothing but the best my Friend Best Wishes and Kind Regards ~ AB

I suspect a lot of this is just quibbling semantics.
The words you are using mean different things to each of us.

Being a hardcore rebel, I just don't have the faith in manufacturers you do. I have often seen them wrong, and often after using a product once or twice I know more about it than whoever wrote the manufacturers instructions. At that point why should I listen to them when I know more than they do?

I like more tech specs...and less telling me how to do it.

Different strokes. Not so much taking offense as just wanting the record straight,

I know that isn't the recommended gun and knew that when posted.

But if it only shoots "popcorn" why is it rated to 90 PSI? Hoping you aren't gonna try to convince me it takes 90 PSI to shoot lightweight dry material?

I successfully used a cheap gun to shoot gel coat...and I've shot many things thru guns that were not on the list.

Please take it in the spirit intended, but I think my new sig sums up the difference in our viewpoints.
